The Different Combos in Magic, Post 1.

moment with pmCombos in Magic the Gathering, some hate them and some love them. I’m not sure if I love or hate, but some are definitely more fun than others. This will hopefully be a series of posts where I write about some combos. Some more famous than others. I will talk a little about what it costs, what you can do with it and some other stuff too. I will start off with one of my personal favorites, more exactly:

Kiki Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Lightning Crafter + Skirk Prospector.

Can you see the combo? No? Don’t worry, I will tell you all about it!

Why is it one of my favorites? Its all goblins! Its red cards! Its not totally broken, so you can easily stop it. Its expensive manawise so it doesn’t come until later when your opponents have a chance to do something about it. Also you get to do all the fun stuff in response to a trigger!

First lets do a little list (for those that don’t like links, and to make it easier).

Number of cards in the combo: 3.

Total mana needed for the combo: 10 (5 must be red mana).

Weakness: Its all creatures, creatures can easily be removed.

Ok, and here is how the combo works, how I use it:

1. Play Skirk Prospector and Kiki Jiki, Mirror Breaker.

2. Play Lightning Crafter.

3. In response to the championing trigger (do not let this trigger resolve), you activate Kiki Jiki targeting the Lightning Crafter.

4. The Token comes into play and you need to champion one Goblin or a Shaman. Champion the now tapped Kiki Jiki.

5. Tap the Lightning Crafter token to deal 3 damage to someone or something.

6. Sacrifice the Lightning Crafter token to Skirk Prospector.

7. Kiki Jiki now comes back into play untapped.

8. Repeat step 3-7 as many times as needed.

Every cycle of this will net you 1 red mana and 3 damage to something.

But I don’t own all the cards, can I replace some of them? Yes, you can very easily replace the Skirk Prospector with another reusable sacrifice outlet like Phyrexian Altar or Ashnods Altar. Or you can use another card with another effect like Viscera Seer, if you want to spice up the combo. Another cool card is Altar of Dementia, then you can kill your opponents two ways with the same combo. Replacing the Kiki Jiki or the Lightning Crafter might be hard tho. I cant come up with any suitable replacements right now.

Do you like this combo? Do you have any combos you want me to take a look at? Let me know!

Nice banner you made there, will it be on all my posts from now?

    • If you want to. The only card with mole in it’s name in Magic is Mole Worms, and well… I found it a bit disgusting honestly. I chose the above one, since they kinda look like moles with other snouts, and they’re cute.
